Fairfield Farms
|
|
Fairfield Farms is the only remaining farm tract in a town that once had more than a dozen farms producing many different kinds of vegetables from horseradish to rhubarb to broccoli and cauliflower. For twenty-five years, from 1975 to 1999, Fairfield Farms operated a large produce market on the farm and transported their produce to five additional farmers’ markets in and around northern New Jersey. In 1999, the market house and twelve greenhouses were moved to another part of the farm and for ten years, the emphasis shifted to growing flowers in the spring and summer and to agritourism during September and October. In 2010, we opened a produce market at the Big Piece Rd location and have become famous for selling the sweetest corn and tastiest Jersey tomatoes and peaches "on the planet".
